Description: Water-cress is an aquatic or semi-aquatic annual or perennial with hollow stems that produce clusters of small white and green flowers.

Range and Habitat: Water-cress thrives in shallow running water areas with full sun or partial shade. It is native to Europe and Asia, but can be found in the United States and Canada. Zones 5-11

In Porcher’s time… Water-cress was widely cultivated across London for its preferred use in spring salads and was introduced in Florida ditches, moving its way up the coast.
