Common name: Wood Sorrel

Description: Wood Sorrel is a perennial whose leaves are rounded in sets of 3 that resemble a clover shape. This plant blooms small, yellow, five petal flowers.

Range and Habitat: Wood Sorrel grows all over North America in full sun to part shade. It germinates in sidewalk cracks to farm fields. Zones 8-11

In Porcher’s time… Wood sorrel was thought to prevent scurvy and to have antiseptic properties. When prepared with milk and diluted with water it was used to bring down fever.
