Introduction
The MUSC University Archives serves as the final repository for those official records of the Medical University of South Carolina which have permanent long-term value to the University. The primary purpose of the Archives is to document the history of the University and to provide source material for administrators, faculty, students, alumni, and other members of the University community as well as scholars and other persons interested in the history of the University. The mission of the Archives is to collect, organize, preserve, and provide access to records and artifacts documenting the history of the Medical University of South Carolina and its six colleges.
Core Mission
The core mission of the MUSC University Archives is:
- To promote knowledge and understanding of the history, programs, and goals of the Medical University of South Carolina and its six colleges.
- To appraise, collect, organize, describe, make available, and preserve records of enduring historical, legal, fiscal, and/or administrative value in all formats as created by administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
- To make these records accessible to members of the University community and the general public.

The Archives is located on the third floor of the MUSC Library and Education Center and is open to researchers Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 4:00. It is advised that interested users contact the archives to schedule an appointment.
