The third Roper Hospital to be built was this one seen above shortly after construction concluded in 1946. Known originally as Palmetto Pavilion, this facility served the private patients of Roper, while the old Roper on Lucas Street continued to serve the indigent population of Charleston until 1959 when that responsibility fell to the Medical College Hospital.
