Description: Sweet Lavender is a small, herbaceous to semi-woody, semi-evergreen perennial, with purple flowers that are sweet in fragrance. This herb grows between 3-4 feet tall.

Range and Habitat: Sweet Lavender is native from Europe to Africa. In South Carolina, Sweet Lavender tolerates high humidity and drought. It grows best in full sun. Zones 8-11

In Porcher’s time… Sweet Lavender was used mostly as a culinary herb and its oil was used in the tanning of leather.
